1. A static code: free, for good

This is what most people need. The code holds your link, number or network directly. Nothing sits in between, so there is nothing anyone can switch off later: not us, not anyone. If Pixygon disappeared tomorrow, the code you printed would still work.

Why a free QR code can suddenly stop working

Many QR code sites quietly make a dynamic code by default. The squares do not contain your link; they contain a short link on the site's own server. When the free trial ends, the short link is switched off, and every business card, flyer and menu you printed goes dead until you pay.

A static code has no middleman, so there is nothing to switch off. That is the whole difference, and it is why qrkeep puts the two side by side and tells you which one you are getting.

2. A dynamic code: only if the destination will change

A menu that changes every season, an event page, a rental listing: sometimes you want to print once and change where the code points later. That needs a short link in between, and that link has to live on a server. This is the honest version.
